Pickday user guide
Pickday lets shoppers choose a delivery date or a pickup date, optionally with a time slot, directly in your BigCommerce checkout. You control preparation time, cut-off times, closed days and how many orders each day or slot can take.
Requirements
- Your store uses BigCommerce's Optimized One-Page Checkout (Settings → Checkout). Custom checkouts are not supported.
- At least one shipping method is enabled for the countries you sell to (Settings → Shipping). The date picker appears after the shopper selects a shipping method.
- Works for guest checkouts and logged-in customers alike: no customer account is needed.
Installation
- Install Pickday from the BigCommerce App Marketplace and accept the requested permissions.
- Pickday registers its checkout extension and webhooks automatically. You can check this at any time in Pickday → Installation, which shows the checkout extension as “set up” and lets you run a check that registers again anything missing.
- Open Pickday → Settings and confirm your timezone. Each card (Delivery, Pickup, Closed dates, Checkout, Advanced) sums up its rules in one or two lines: click Edit to change them, then Save. The preview on the right shows exactly what shoppers will see while you edit.
- Place a test order: choose a shipping method in your checkout, pick a date, and complete the order. The date appears in the order's staff notes and in Pickday → Planning.
Settings
- Delivery / Pickup: each can be enabled separately. Pickup is used when the shopper chooses BigCommerce in-store pickup or a shipping method whose name contains one of your pickup words (for example “pickup”, “retrait”).
- Preparation time: business days needed before the first available date. Order cut-off time: orders after this time start preparation the next business day.
- Business days (when you prepare orders) and delivery / pickup days (when shoppers can receive them).
- Time slots (optional) with a capacity each, and Max orders per day. Leave capacity empty for unlimited.
- Closed dates (holidays) apply to delivery and pickup.
- Shipping methods without date picker: words such as “freight” or “digital” hide the picker for those methods.
- Languages: the checkout follows each shopper's browser language (English, French, Spanish, Italian, German) or a language you choose. Titles and slot names can be customised per language.
What shoppers see
Below the selected shipping method, a row of dates and, if you use them, the time slots of the chosen date. The first available date is pre-selected (you can turn this off) and every choice is confirmed with “Saved: …”. A chosen slot is reserved for 30 minutes while the shopper completes the checkout, so the last place in a slot cannot be booked twice.
Where to find the chosen date
- For the shopper: the order comments. Pickday adds one line such as “▸ Delivery: Tuesday, October 20, Morning 09:00–12:00” in the shopper's language. The shopper sees it with the order (for example in their account's order details). Pickday never changes what the shopper wrote; you can turn this off in Settings.
- Order staff notes (Orders → View → the order), for example “Pickday: Delivery on 2026-10-20 (Morning 09:00–12:00)”.
- Order metafield
pickday/schedule(JSON), for other apps and integrations. - Pickday → Planning: all scheduled orders by day, with CSV export.
Cancelling, refunding or declining an order frees its place automatically.
Subscription
Pickday is billed on your BigCommerce invoice. Subscribe, change plan or cancel in Pickday → Subscription. Cancelling ends the subscription at the end of the paid period (at once during a free trial). Uninstalling an app does not cancel its BigCommerce subscription by itself, so Pickday cancels it for you when you uninstall (and keeps retrying if BigCommerce is unreachable). To be sure, cancel in the Subscription tab before uninstalling. Without an active subscription the date picker is hidden from your checkout; your checkout keeps working.
Known limitations
- BigCommerce does not let checkout extensions block the “Continue” button, so a shopper could still skip the date. Keep “Pre-select the first available date” on. If an order still arrives without a date, it gets the note “Pickday: no date selected” and is listed at the top of Pickday → Planning, where you can assign a date (written on the order and in its comments) or mark it as not needing one.
- The date line is added while the shopper is in the checkout. Whether it also appears on the order confirmation page and in the confirmation email depends on your theme and email templates showing order comments. It is always on the order itself.
- Only one extension can be shown in the same checkout area; another app using the area below the shipping method may conflict.
